ANC Gauteng Province Chairperson Visits HUAWEI

December 8, 2018 – Paul Mashatile, Chairperson of the Gauteng Provincial Committee of the African National Congress (ANC) and Minister of Finance, visited HUAWEI to explore opportunities for cooperation in smart agricultural equipment and technology. The delegation was accompanied by Zhao Weixing, Secretary of the Jinshan District Committee in Shanghai; Zhang Weidong, Secretary of the Tinglin Town Party Committee; Cao Xingzhi, Founding President of the South Africa-China Cross-border E-commerce Association; and Lv Mingli, Chairman of HUAWEI Group.

Paul Mashatile expressed great interest in HUAWEI’s integrated high-quality products and technological systems, including its efficient water and fertilizer integration system and the “Farm Above” Smart Agriculture Cloud Platform. Upon learning that HUAWEI was awarded the 2017 China-Egypt “Belt and Road” Smart Irrigation Project, providing advanced agricultural technology to modernize Egypt’s desert agriculture, Mashatile noted that such innovative solutions are urgently needed in South Africa to transform deserts into fertile farmland and address critical livelihood issues.
He expressed his hope for collaboration with HUAWEI to bring these smart agricultural technologies to South Africa and boost the nation’s agricultural development.
