On July 7, 2017, Huawei stood out among numerous domestic and international competitors, securing the contract for the smart irrigation equipment supply segment of the Egypt Modern Greenhouse Agricultural Project, a turnkey project by Sinomach Heavy Industry Group. The contract, signed on July 17, is valued at 1.38 billion RMB and involves the full suite of smart irrigation systems for tens of thousands of acres of greenhouses. The entire project is set to be completed within eight months, with a total investment of nearly 3 billion RMB. This key livelihood project holds great significance in the context of the China-Egypt “Belt and Road” cooperation.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has shown great interest and support for the project. He personally met with Liu Jingzhen, Deputy General Manager of Sinomach, and Wu Peiguo, Chairman and Party Secretary of Sinomach Heavy Industry. President Sisi emphasized the project’s significance and articulated clear hopes and objectives for the government’s modern agricultural initiatives.

For 16 years, Huawei has dedicated itself to creating a global smart irrigation brand with Chinese roots. Winning this contract, the world’s largest single smart irrigation project, reaffirms Huawei’s commitment to innovation, R&D, and specialized service. The project is expected to have a profound impact on advancing Chinese smart irrigation and modern agricultural equipment in Egypt, Africa, and global markets.

The Huawei team overseeing the project reflected that true competition ultimately boils down to a company’s inherent strength. Huawei’s platform advantages were the key to its success. Moving forward, Huawei plans to further enhance its capabilities, respond to national calls, and work closely with ministries, central enterprises, and Shanghai municipal governments to promote Shanghai’s modern agricultural technologies and equipment worldwide, serving the overarching “Belt and Road” strategy.
