On November 20, 2019, Thailand’s Minister of Agriculture, Chalermchai Sri-on, along with Sasirit Tangulrat, Thai Consul General in Shanghai, and a delegation of over 50 members from the Thai Ministry of Agriculture, visited the Shanghai Municipal Agricultural and Rural Committee to engage in discussions on agricultural cooperation. Wang Guozhong, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Agricultural and Rural Committee, welcomed the delegation. HUAWEI, as the sole representative of Shanghai’s technology-driven agricultural equipment enterprises, was invited to participate in the meeting.

Deputy Director Wang provided an overview of Shanghai’s rural development and agricultural modernization efforts, highlighting advancements in agricultural mechanization and the promotion of smart agricultural equipment innovations, such as those developed by HUAWEI. He emphasized Shanghai’s commitment to contributing high-value agricultural technologies and expressed hopes for deepened collaboration with Thailand in various agricultural domains.

Minister Chalermchai Sri-on stressed Thailand’s focus on advancing agricultural technology and acknowledged the close agricultural cooperation and exchanges between Thailand and Shanghai in recent years. He expressed keen interest in leveraging Shanghai’s expertise through technical training and project collaborations to boost Thailand’s agricultural development. Throughout the discussion, the Minister repeatedly emphasized his anticipation of forming an in-depth partnership with HUAWEI in the realm of smart agriculture.
Chairman Lv Mingli of HUAWEI
Chairman Lv Mingli of HUAWEI underscored the importance of agricultural technology in Shanghai’s strategy to build a globally influential science and technology innovation hub. He highlighted HUAWEI’s role as a representative enterprise, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the Shanghai Agricultural Committee, in providing smart irrigation systems, comprehensive agricultural park planning, and cultivation-related technical training. Lv shared that HUAWEI had previously visited the Thai Ministry of Agriculture to deliver integrated smart agricultural equipment and had maintained active technical exchanges. He expressed the company’s aspiration to establish a pilot agricultural complex project in Thailand, aiming to promote the country’s agricultural transformation and industrial upgrading.
