The difference of water demand of grape in different growing stages is obvious.

Before and after germination to flowering is the first water demand peak, the most suitable soil moisture is 65% ~ 85%.

Flowering period is generally not suitable for irrigation, otherwise it will aggravate physiological fruit drop.

If there is insufficient water during shoot growth and young fruit expansion, the yield will decrease significantly, which is the second peak water demand, and the most suitable soil moisture is 80% to 90%.

The fruit should supply sufficient water during the rapid expansion period, promote the growth of berries and increase the number of cells, but prevent too much water from forming new shoots.

Water in fruit ripening stage has a great influence on fruit quality, too much water will delay fruit ripening, quality deterioration, and affect the ripening of branches and vines, close to the harvesting period of about 15 days, generally not suitable for irrigation.



Grapes need many elements to grow. Grapes have high water requirements, and strict control of water in the soil is a prerequisite for growing good grapes. Grapes require more water in the early growth or vegetative growth period, and less water in the later growth or fruiting period, so it is necessary to avoid root damage so as not to affect the quality.

Grapes avoid rain and dew, rain for many years is easy to cause insufficient sunshine, photosynthesis is limited, too much water absorption is easy to cause branch growth and humidity is too high, easy to cause a variety of diseases, such as blackpox, gray mold and so on.

Therefore, during the flowering period, it is ideal to keep the branches at 40-70 cm. The amount of irrigation in fruiting period should also be controlled in areas prone to cracking.
