During operation, the laminations are compressed by springs and hydraulic forces, trapping impurities in the water. During backwashing, the controller controls a dedicated three-way valve to change the direction of water flow. The laminations in the unit that needs backwashing are automatically released and rotated, and impurities are flushed out through the sewage pipe using purified water filtered by other units.
